Living on the beach in general is a lot of fun, especially when it is warm outside. If one is able to, it is a pleasant idea to live in various Coastal real estate all around the country, particularly in the Sun Belt areas of California, Florida, Texas, and Hawaii.
For example, Venice Ca. is a community known for its surfing ambience. Venice has been part of Los Angeles since 1925, but it still has a separate identity as a community. It has three miles of beaches and a boardwalk, and there?s a lot of outdoor entertainment. Then there is muscle beach, where often body builders can be seen lifting weights and developing their physique. The population of Venice area is about 39,000 and it is located 3 miles south of Santa Monica, and 17 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Venice is also only a short 30 miles or so boat ride to Carolina Island, much of it closed off to development in a Nature Preserve.
Similar warm conditions, though not quite as exciting for surfers can be found in the Corpus Christi metropolitan area is made up of several different communities. Corpus Christi is a medium size city off the Gulf of Mexico, on Corpus Christi Bay, about 30 miles north of Mexico. Several exclusive communities on the coast are especially desirable. North Padre Island has an 18-hole golf course and country club, and Mediterranean style homes with stucco and ceramic tile roofs. There are homes and condos on the island feature boat slips just out their back doors where one can sail through canals to the Gulf of Mexico. Flour Bluff is a quaint community located between Corpus Christi and North Padre Island. There is also the charming Rockport-Fulton.
Other attractions are the permanent docking of the ?Ships of Christopher Columbus?, which were constructed to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. These reproductions were built by Spain and after touring U.S. ports, the ships arrived in Corpus Christi in 1993. In downtown Corpus Christi, you can choose from restaurants serving seafood, authentic Mexican food and Cajun foods. There's something for everyone. Residents enjoy bike riding by the bay, horseback riding, swimming, surfing, sailing, windsurfing and more. Best of all, much of the housing in the Corpus Christi area is very affordable compared to expensive resort and winter communities in Florida and California.
Finally, probably the ultimate coastal getaway is to the fishing and surfing paradise of the island of Kauai in Hawaii. A mountainous interior of this island, covered with rain forests makes sure that all the 60,000 inhabitants of this 550 square mile island live near to the sea. Rainfall ranges from 19 inches on the dry western shore to 48 inches on the eastern shore near the town of Kapa?a, to some of the highest rainfall per year on the peak of Wai?ale?ale. No structure can be built higher than about four stories tall, so don?t expect to see huge condos here. The boating, the kayaking, the fishing and the surfing are magnificent.
