It is no secret that skiing is one of the world's most popular winter sports, and it is one of the most expensive as well. However, with some smart planning a ski vacation does not have to break the bank. In fact, there is an abundance of ski vacation deals available if you simply know where to look and follow some simple strategies.
Get a jump on the season and save. Last minute planning makes it difficult to book the most desirable accommodations and venues, and it can make it even more difficult to find the best possible ski vacation deals. Instead of looking for ski vacation deals when the snow has already fallen and the slopes are already crowded, start your search for ski vacation deals in the summer months. It is during the summer months that resorts are most anxious to attract customers for the upcoming season, so it is not uncommon for the best promotions and least expensive ski vacation deals to be available during this time.
The cold shoulder is your friend. Early and late season can offer great opportunities for ski vacation deals. The shoulder seasons--late fall and early spring--are generally warmer and less crowded, so ski resorts and travel agents are most likely to offer their most affordable ski vacation deals during that time. But the shoulder season is not the only time to get great ski vacation deals. Great ski vacation deals are also abundant in January, after the rush of holiday vacationers.
Big names can mean big prices. While the biggest mountains and most popular resorts may provide their share of thrills, the typical skier can get all the thrills they need and great ski vacation deals at some of the smaller, less traveled ski resorts.
The Internet is a great place to start. Ski vacation deals can be found on many websites. Many resorts and travel agents have online resources that will allow you to find ski vacation deals that will fit your tastes, budget, and calendar.

Where in the World? Top Places to Visit In Your Lifetime
I've often been asked where my favourite place to travel has been; the trouble is there are so many varied experiences out there that it is very hard to choose; here are a few of my top recommendations if you fancy an experience!
1)Taj Mahal. Yup, thought it was going to be tacky, nearly didn't bother going but two people who were staying in my hostel heard me say it, dragged me to a taxi and made me shut my eyes all the way there..... they then walked me in the main entrance, lined me up with it and told me to open my eyes.
I nearly welled up it was so beautiful, the sun was just setting and it took my breath away; everyone should see it once! (Actually, I saw it twice, went back the next morning to see it again in a different kind of sunlight). The glory of it made up for the frankly poor state of the lavatories, they were even worse than the ones on your average Intercity journey.
2)Kakadu, Darwin, Oz. One of the most beautiful places on God's Earth. Can't even describe to you how fanstastic it was, look it up on the net :O)
3)Chiang Mai night market, Thailand. Take an empty rucky and a few quid and you'll be sorted for Christmas presents for the next five years.
4) Pad Thai at the Oriental Hotel, Bangkok. Not cheap, compared to a roadside stall outside, but watching the sun go down over the river as the little fairylit boats chug back and forth and the candles are lit is one of the most romantic evenings I know.
5)Melbourne, Oz. Great coffee, great cinammon rolls. Hire a motorbike and go along the Great Ocean Road. Search for koalas and go on a glow-worm tour at night.
6)Hoi An, Vietnam. Charming French colonial remants, bustling little town, lovely hotels on the river, but best of all, tailors everywhere! Revamp your wardrobe for a $100 bucks then wander the evening streets lit with glowing lanterns and fairylights.
7) Sydney Harbour. Hire a little boat, take a picnic then spend the whole day trying to avoid being hit by ferries.
8)Hay-on-Wye. Not exotic, but I went this weekend and spent a a very happy time buying lots of books by Eric Newby. Great bedtime reading fot the armchair traveller.
9)Lake Toba, Sumatra. An adventure to get to in itself, amazing views and a certain frisson knowing you're staying on an island in the middle of an exploded volcano that was responsible for causing a bottleneck in human evolution. (Couldn't sleep the first two nights in case it exploded again).
10)Bali. Just beautiful. Get straight out of Kuta and head for magical lush Ubud then Lovina on the north coast, where the dolphins live and the volcanic sands are black. Padangbai in particular is also a lovely little village with a golden beach where all the painted wooden boats are pulled up on the shoreline and the ferries depart to Lombok. And make sure you do a cooking course; I'll be posting some of the great recipes I was taught in the next few weeks.
11) Christmas market, Tivoli gardens, Copenhagen. More fairylights, happy glowing faces clustered round open braziers, the aromatic scent and taste of mulled wine, the stickiness of apple dumplings and jam, little chalets selling crafts, children iceskating, fireworks.... the perfect Scandinavian Christmas.
12) Bukit Lawang, Sumatra. Indonesia is quite a good trip, you get everything from the beaches of Bali to the astonishing scenery in Sumatra, the history of places such as Borobodur in Java, lakes, mountains, volcanoes, etc etc... and places like Bukit Lawang, where you can see orang utans and risk your life needlessly crashing down rivers on inflated tyre tubes and then realise afterwards just how dangerous it was. There are also the best fruit smoothies in the world, to be sipped in ramshackle cafes perched precariously on stilts overhanging crashing rivers, and also something called teh jahe, black sweet tea with ginger (which despite it being a hot drink when you are pouring with sweat in the tropical humidity is incredibly refreshing).
13)Diving on the Great Barrier Reef, Oz. Terrifying. Shan't do it again but I'm glad I did it; I don't think the human heart was built to stand such panic, and the only thing I've ever done that was as scary was sky-diving/getting married.
14).Sunset whilst sailing round the Whitsundays, Oz. I'd like to point out that I wasn't actually doing any of the sailing, I was slightly worse for wear due to a heady mix of cheap red wine and anti-seasickness tablets, but it was a beautiful evening; turtles were popping their heads up through the waves and we'd just been swimming at Whitehaven beach (which is so perfect, I think the sand is 99% silica which is why it is so white and beautiful).
15)Holi festival, Goa. This was such a blast, everyone was running round throwing coloured dye at each other... when the picture was taken I was still in relatively good nick, after this I had a bowl of green powder tipped over my head and had to stand in the sea for ages scrubbing myself with sand to try and wash it off.
16) Jaisalmer, Rajasthan, India. A beautiful Arabian Nights-style town with walled fort and palace balance on the edge of the Thar desert. Everything is built with honey coloured sandstone and the effect as the sun goes down is just magical, as the last of the sunlight glitters off the embroidered mirrored hangings that are displayed for sale along the narrow passageways and walls of the old town.

Basic Travel Tips for All
Vacations are the best way to get out of those hectic days of your everyday life. Vacation is a term used to describe a lengthy time away from work or school, a trip abroad, or simply a pleasure trip away from home, such as a trip to the beach that lasts several days or longer. When we travel, we open to a world that was previously unknown to us.
Travel can be fun, and it can be dangerous at the same time. Traveling is a great way to experience new places and meet people with a different view of things. We touch other cultures and other ways of life; we broaden our own perspectives and understand, finally, that our small problems are just that.
You can save your money by looking at the following options before booking for your next trip. The travel tips are:
Consider flying out of another airport.
Before you book your tickets, make sure that the price you have includes all fees and taxes.
Do your homework by comparing rates on the different websites.
Go outside your comfort zone.
Check out the fares on red-eye flights.
Fly on the off days.
If you are booking travel during the holidays, consider flying on the holiday itself.
If you are ready to order your tickets, order them as far in advance as possible.
Patients of heart, blood pressure, diabetes should travel with lot of care. Diabetes should not stop you from traveling but careful planning is required in order to assure a safe and enjoyable trip. Be sure that your diabetes survival kit contains:
Glucagons.
blood glucose meter
extra supplies of insulin
syringes and needles
Urine ketone testing strips and........ .
Traveling is one of those areas where euphoria can be so high you do things you would never imagine doing at home. Life is full of problem. No one knows that which problem you are going to face next step. Prevention is better than cure as it is always said. So always follow the below guidelines to avoid problems and make your journey as memorable as possible. Basic guidelines are:
Your passport is like your hall passing in elementary school.
Before jumping on that plane to exoticlandia, make sure you let someone know where you are going to be and for how long.
Do not have drugs while you travel.
If you are traveling with your kids then keep in mind following things to enjoy your trip:
Have each child pack their own small backpack with the books, workbooks, and activities that they most want to bring.
Have a kid-friendly travel map on hand.
Bring some music that everyone will enjoy singing along to.
Pack healthy low-mess snacks.
Consider buying or borrowing a portable DVD player.
Make sure to talk about your vacation like it is the ultimate adventure.
Have a nice vacation just by following above few tips.

Coastal Communities for Fishing, Surfing and Boating
Living on the beach in general is a lot of fun, especially when it is warm outside. If one is able to, it is a pleasant idea to live in various Coastal real estate all around the country, particularly in the Sun Belt areas of California, Florida, Texas, and Hawaii.
For example, Venice Ca. is a community known for its surfing ambience. Venice has been part of Los Angeles since 1925, but it still has a separate identity as a community. It has three miles of beaches and a boardwalk, and there?s a lot of outdoor entertainment. Then there is muscle beach, where often body builders can be seen lifting weights and developing their physique. The population of Venice area is about 39,000 and it is located 3 miles south of Santa Monica, and 17 miles from downtown Los Angeles. Venice is also only a short 30 miles or so boat ride to Carolina Island, much of it closed off to development in a Nature Preserve.
Similar warm conditions, though not quite as exciting for surfers can be found in the Corpus Christi metropolitan area is made up of several different communities. Corpus Christi is a medium size city off the Gulf of Mexico, on Corpus Christi Bay, about 30 miles north of Mexico. Several exclusive communities on the coast are especially desirable. North Padre Island has an 18-hole golf course and country club, and Mediterranean style homes with stucco and ceramic tile roofs. There are homes and condos on the island feature boat slips just out their back doors where one can sail through canals to the Gulf of Mexico. Flour Bluff is a quaint community located between Corpus Christi and North Padre Island. There is also the charming Rockport-Fulton.
Other attractions are the permanent docking of the ?Ships of Christopher Columbus?, which were constructed to celebrate the 500th anniversary of the discovery of America. These reproductions were built by Spain and after touring U.S. ports, the ships arrived in Corpus Christi in 1993. In downtown Corpus Christi, you can choose from restaurants serving seafood, authentic Mexican food and Cajun foods. There's something for everyone. Residents enjoy bike riding by the bay, horseback riding, swimming, surfing, sailing, windsurfing and more. Best of all, much of the housing in the Corpus Christi area is very affordable compared to expensive resort and winter communities in Florida and California.
Finally, probably the ultimate coastal getaway is to the fishing and surfing paradise of the island of Kauai in Hawaii. A mountainous interior of this island, covered with rain forests makes sure that all the 60,000 inhabitants of this 550 square mile island live near to the sea. Rainfall ranges from 19 inches on the dry western shore to 48 inches on the eastern shore near the town of Kapa?a, to some of the highest rainfall per year on the peak of Wai?ale?ale. No structure can be built higher than about four stories tall, so don?t expect to see huge condos here. The boating, the kayaking, the fishing and the surfing are magnificent.

An Introduction to Fractional Sailing
There are many good reasons to own a boat. Its fun, it’s sporting, it’s romantic and it’s adventurous. It bonds family and friends together for special memories. There’s that irresistible pull of the ocean that says, “Let’s go!” And, of course, there’s a certain prestige in owning a well maintained yacht. However there are also many reasons not to. The costs associated with maintaining your own yacht are high, and so is the time commitment required. Mortgage, maintenance, dockage, insurance, upgrades, storage and cleaning are a year-round personal and financial commitment.
Fractional Sailing programs remove all of the negative aspects of boating and allow you to enjoy your time on the water with friends and family. Fractional Sailing is day to day access to a new luxury sailboat in your local waterway; it makes sailing practical, cost effective and simple. Program members may take a new sailing yacht out for a few hours after work, getaway for a weekend, or cruise for an entire week. If you’re looking for a flexible, no commitment way to sail your luxury dream yacht then you’ve found it in fractional sailing.
OK, now that we have your attention, let’s take a look at some of the highlights of fractional sailing programs. Most programs allow you to sail a beautiful new sailboat in your local waterways and allow morning, afternoon, evening, overnight, weekend and week long time slots. The more established programs use proprietary scheduling technology, usually accessed via the internet, to allow members to book time on their sailboat. To help keep member costs down most programs also employ some type of electronic check-in and check-out system at the boat that removes the need for a staff member on the dock. Members incur no maintenance, bank notes, slip fees, or insurance costs; they simply pay one low annual or monthly fee to the management company.
A typical program will allow for seven guaranteed uses per month, plus as available use, and is generally all inclusive for less than a typical owner would pay for slip fees and fuel alone. If the program is structured correctly there should be no commitments and no buying or selling, make sure you have an experienced professional management team working for you. With the right Fractional Sailing program you will find yourself in top of the line facilities sailing on a fully loaded sailboat: roller furling jibs and main sails, modern electronics, flat panel TV’s with DVD players, electric heads, and powerful reliable diesel engines are just some of the features you can expect to find.
Most yacht owners realistically sail their boats 2-3 times per month. The cost of ownership is high; slip fees are $250-$450 per month, the bank note varies depending on the quality of the yacht but can range from $300 to well into the thousands, maintenance is expensive and time consuming, quality comprehensive insurance is difficult to obtain and expensive, the list goes on and on; fuel, pump-out, bottom paint, haul outs…..
Previously the only alternative to ownership was chartering. Chartering a yacht in a destination vacation area is usually an enjoyable experience, however it is still expensive, and you are only on the water for the duration of your vacation. Fractional Sailing programs give you the ability to sail in your local waterways for a day, evening, half day, weekend, week or even just a few hours all season long. All the hassles, worries and expenses associated with yacht ownership are handled by the management company. Check out your local Fractional Sailing program today!
Summary: Fractional Sailing Programs remove all of the negative aspects of boating and allow you to enjoy your time on the water with friends and family. Fractional Sailing is day to day access to a new luxury sailboat in your local waterway, it makes sailing practical, cost effective and simple.

12 Advices how to choose a hotel
1. Book hotels in advance. Hotel prices tend to rise during holidays and seasonal days. You can save 30-40 % by making a booking 2-3 months in advance.
2. Book hotels located near a public transport like a metro/station. Remember that large cities always have traffic jams. That"s why a metro/station can come in handy.
3. The hotel must be easily accessible from the airport/railway/seaport/carpark you are going to use.
4. Remember: the hotel must be reasonably priced, but not too cheap to avoid disappointments.
5. Don"t be afraid to book the hotel by yourself. It is cheaper than using the travel agencies where they charge you with a commission. You will also have time to read hotel reviews on the Internet before making your choice.
6. Pay attention to the check in and check out time of the hotels. In general the hotels have a check-in time of 12.00 pm or later, while some tourists arrive at the city in the morning.
7. Once you have chosen your hotel, make sure you find a map or a tourist guide of the region. Most of the hotels will provide you with the information you need. That way you will have time to plan your vacation on an efficient way.
8. If you only plan to eat and sleep in the hotel - choose a hotel near the centre of the city. If you are a creative person, consider to book a design hotel.
9. When you book hotels located in the centre of the city, make sure that the window is faced inside the hotel. That would allow you to avoid traffic noise during the night, which is a problem in the centre of the city.
10. Pay attention to small details: room service, smoking or not, check for noise isolation on the windows, availability of a swimming pool, gym and so on.
11. When booking a room in a warm country, make sure that the room has an air-conditioner. Often hotels only mention their air conditioning in the hotel facilities.
12. Try to find a hotel with a possibility to use a taxi transfer to the hotel. That way you don"t pay too much for a local taxi. Besides, if you don"t know the local language, you might even lose more time.

Fiesta! San Antonio
Fiesta San Antonio is just around the corner! For over one hundred years, San Antonio has been celebrating the heroes of the Alamo and the Battle of San Jacinto with the fresh flowers, floats, carnivals, balls, music, food, and parades that make up Fiesta.
Even since a group of San Antonio's citizens decided to honor these historic events with the Battle of Flowers in 1891, Fiesta has been an integral part of the life and culture of, not only San Antonio, but of all Texas and the U.S. as well. Second only to the Rose Bowl Parade in California, Fiesta draws around 3.5 million attendees, and around $260 million each year. Although Fiesta is a spectacular festival for having fun, it also serves a purpose to raise money for many community organizations and benefits, and to raise cultural awareness and celebrate south Texas' diversity.
Over the ten days of Fiesta, Mariachi bands serenade passers by, Tejano music can be heard in the streets, and art shows are available for aficionados and amateur appreciators alike. For history buffs, there are seminars, conferences, tours, exhibitions and talks ranging from the history of the battles, to the architecture of many of San Antonio?s finest homes.
Fiesta San Antonio also features the crowning of the city's 'royalty' into The Order of the Alamo. This event, started in 1909, is one of the oldest elements of Fiesta and features the crowning of the Queen of Fiesta, her princess, and 24 duchesses. The queens serve for one year, and are celebrated in the large parades. El Rey Feo is the other royalty crowned during Fiesta. Following the ancient tradition of peasants crowning a fellow peasant king for a day, the Rey Feo, although having an unfortunate moniker, does manage to rise above his title and rank to become a noble ruler, as he raises money for charities throughout San Antonio.
Other Events:
Night in Old San Antonio (NIOSA) - night dedicated to raising awareness and save San Antonio's historic buildings.
St. Mary's Oyster Bake - 100,000 oysters and two days of fun at St. Mary's University
Women's Fiesta Soccer Tournament-featuring top teams in an invitation tournament
Pilgrimage to the Alamo - sponsored and organized by the Daughters of the Republic of Texas as a tribute to the heroes of the Alamo. A quiet parade bearing wreaths walks to the Alamo and a memorial service is held.
Texas Cavaliers River Parade - one of the few parades in the nation actually held on a river. 250,000 line the banks of the San Antonio river to watch the festivities.
Fiesta begins April 20 with the opening ceremony at 9 AM at the Alamo Plaza. The close of the festival occurs with the crowning of Miss San Antonio at the scholarship pageant.

Parking at Blackpool Airport
Blackpool airport (BLK) is situated south of the city. The entrance of the complex is linked by a dual carriageway to the motorway network. You have to drive along the A5230 from junction 4 of the M55 motorway and turn left at the first roundabout.
As a regular flier I’ve used the airport in Blackpool dozens of times, mostly I had to travel out of the airport because of business as I do public relations for a large automotive company. Each time I have to catch a flight I normally use the available parking sites at or nearby the airport. Parking at Blackpool Airport itself is rather expensive unless it is affordable for you paying the short term rate. Over the internet you have the convenient option to book several less expensive car parking services. I think I’ve parked my car already at all of the available sites so I know which companies provide the best and easiest parking procedures. Sharing my experiences and give you some advice might give you some piece of mind if you are planning to park your car at Blackpool airport.
Over a period of three years I’ve used a number of alternatives regarding off-site airport car parking at Blackpool. The car parks were all professionally run and also the security was of high standards. However, at the end of the day it all depends on how much time you have left before you have to start checking-in. Also important is how much money you are willing to pay for parking your car.
If you want to treat yourself then the best choice is to use the chauffeured parking service. They are obviously more expensive but the procedure is very easy as you only have to drive your car up to the airport, get your suitcases out of the trunk and let staff move the vehicle away for you. Each time I used their service and returned from my domestic business trips I called them and there they were waiting for me! It could not be easier. One of the advisable car parks which provide this excellent service is Skypark Meet and Greet Parking.
There is another well-established car park which I would like to mention here, Blackpool Long Stay Car Park. They operate a highly secured site. The parking procedure is straightforward. You just drive your car into the facility, obtain a ticket by pushing the button and keep the voucher with you. When I returned from my business trip I took the ticket and confirmation to the information desk where the ticket was validated for me. When I left the park I inserted the ticket into the slot and I drove away. I even enjoyed a discounted price as I booked the parking in advance online.
The most economical options are also positioned within a longer distance from the airport. I you want to use one of these you better arrive there early so you have enough time left before the check in procedure commences. If you not feel good about this then I would suggest, the pretty painless, valet parking option.
During the last two years I always pre-booked my car parking online and I wish I also had done this the first year. Using these services to plan your travels is really the best advice I can give you. Don’t be suspicious as they offer a secured and safe reservation service and it is very easy too. I never had a negative experience with them and I will definitely keep on using the internet to arrange my car parking. Mentioned below are a few of the online services which I many times successfully used.

Travel the Great Wall of China
The Great Wall of China is not just an ordinary travel icon; besides the role it plays in China’s tourism, it has led to the development of China’s long history and culture. People are curious to understand the facts of how the great wall came about; however, it is not until one visits this majestic structure, you can truly understand the significance of the great wall to China and the rest of the world.
The origin of story of the great wall is unknown, but history shows that the construction of the wall began in the early seventh century B.C and was made out of stone, wood, grass and earth. This was when the earliest regional kingdom was built for the defensive military needs. The purpose was to protect the farming lands from the invasion of the tribes from the north and to hold the natives from vacating the lands. Used as a military demarcation, there were various watchtowers which stood at varying distances from each other; these towers substituted the time warning system used during the ancient times. The fire and smoke signaled the day and night time respectively. Many of these watch towers still remain in their original position where they stood while some have been destroyed during the revolution.
Over the years, parts of the great wall was destroyed and rebuilt and more sections were added. Due to this construction, it stretched so wide from the east to the west bordering almost the entire country. At present, they say it measures about 7300km from one end to the other.
There are different sections to travel the wall, all of which have different attractions and features. The sections also represent the roles played during the construction of the great wall. For adventure lovers, it would be a challenging task to travel the entire length of the wall. The Great Wall Marathon and Half Marathon is an annual marathon race which takes place every year in China. For runners and adventures, this marathon is one of the experiences of a lifetime as they run through 7km of the incredible wall passing through beautiful countryside villages and mountain trails.
For tourists on short stays in China, climbing the great wall from almost any part of northern china is possible, although, many travelers prefer to climb the wall from Beijing because the sections of this part of the wall are very good for sightseeing and have great features. Besides that, it affords them the opportunity to see other historical attractions like the Forbidden City, Temple of Heaven, and Tiananmen Square etc.
The most popular sections to visit and climb the great wall in Beijing are the Badaling, Simatai, and Mutianyu sections.
Badaling section of the great wall is located 70 km away from the center of Beijing and is the most popular section to climb the wall in Beijing. It was the first part of the wall to be opened to tourists. History has it that Badaling section was built to protect the Juyongguan Pass, along which the Guan’gou gorge and several interesting sites of interest are located. This section of the Great Wall was made by huge bar stones and paved with square bricks making the wall pavement smoothly ordered. The Badaling section became a national cultural relic and a world heritage listing by United Nations in 1987.
Simatai section in Beijing is a very remote and quiet section on the great wall. The ruins and untouched parts of this section is what helped Simatai section earn its reputation of being the unique section of the wall. There are features retained from over the years which were untouched and looks like what it used to be like over 500 years ago. This section of the wall has about twelve watch towers at different intervals and takes about 2hours to reach the twelfth tower. Simatai section is great for adventure hikers and trekkers.
The Mutianyu section of the Great Wall is located on Huairou County northeast of Beijing. This section of the wall is known for its unique quality of construction and features compared to other sections of the wall. It is known as the main essence of the great wall because of the style which it was built.
In Summary, traveling the great wall is one of the greatest experiences of a lifetime and it is difficult to understand its history until it is visited. It is assumed to be one of the top 100 things to do in this lifetime.
